Frequently asked questions
Perhaps you already know you want to change something. Perhaps you simply feel ready to move forward differently, without yet knowing how.
You do not have to know what topic to bring or which form of support is right for you. That is also what the 30-minute, no-obligation introductory call is for.
01What is professional coaching?
Coaching is a collaborative conversation focused on you, your situation and where you want to go. Instead of ready-made advice, it gives you space to think differently, discover new possibilities, make more deliberate decisions and turn insight into practical steps.
02Do I need to know exactly what I want to discuss?
No. Some clients arrive with a specific decision or situation. Others simply know something is not working as they would like, or feel ready for change.
You do not need a precisely defined goal or a clear next step. Discovering that next step can itself be part of coaching.
03What topics can I bring?
Topics can be personal or professional: decisions, change, self-worth and confidence, boundaries and relationships, pressure and balance, personal growth, career changes, business or project development, leadership, communication and managing people.
You do not need to work out which category your topic belongs in. We can explore it during the introductory call and choose a form of support that makes sense for you.
04What if I actually need advice?
We can talk about that too. In coaching, I will not tell you what to do. You know your own life, situation and context best.
Where our work also includes mentoring, I can share my experience, practical knowledge or perspective. We will always be clear about when we are coaching and when we are mentoring.
05How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching and therapy can both address personal topics, but they have different purposes and boundaries. Coaching focuses mainly on your present situation, insights, options, decisions and next steps.
Coaching does not replace psychotherapy or healthcare. Recognising when a topic goes beyond coaching is part of a professional approach.
06How do I know whether coaching is right for me?
You do not need to know before we meet. That is exactly what the 30-minute, no-obligation introductory call is for.
We will talk about what brings you here and what you hope to gain. You can also decide whether I am the right coach for your topic and whether my way of working suits you.
07What happens at the first coaching session?
We begin by agreeing on what you would like to explore and what would make the session useful to you.
We then look at your situation, what matters to you, what might be holding you back and the options available. Questions, reflection and a different perspective can reveal connections that are hard to see in everyday life.
At the end, you identify what you are taking away and what your next step might be.
08How long does a coaching session last?
Standard sessions in ongoing work last 60 minutes.
If you want to focus on one situation or decision, a single 90-minute 1:1 session gives us more time to explore the topic in depth.
09How many sessions will I need?
That depends on the topic and what you want to achieve. One specific situation may take one session; deeper change or development usually takes longer.
We decide on the number and frequency of sessions based on your situation and needs.
10Is everything I say confidential?
Confidentiality is a foundation of professional coaching.
As a member of the International Coaching Federation, I follow the ICF Code of Ethics. Our coaching conversations remain confidential under the terms we agree before working together. The ICF requires a clear confidentiality agreement and recognises legal and safety-related exceptions.
11What if my employer pays for the coaching?
The confidentiality of the coaching conversation is also essential in company-sponsored coaching.
Before we begin, we agree what information may be shared with the company or sponsor and what remains between us. This is part of the professional and ethical standards of the ICF.
12Is coaching online or in person?
Both. We can meet online or in person in Bratislava, depending on the type of engagement and what we agree.
Online coaching lets us work together wherever you are.
13Can we work in English?
Yes. I coach in Slovak and English.
This applies to both individual and corporate clients.
14What if I find that coaching is not right for me?
Coaching is a voluntary collaboration. Both the topic and the way we work should make sense to you.
If our work does not feel helpful, we will talk about it openly. The right to end a coaching relationship is also part of the ICF Code of Ethics.
15How do I get started?
Let us start with a 30-minute, no-obligation introductory call.
We will discuss what brings you here, what you need and which form of support might suit you. You can also see whether I feel like the right coach for you and whether we want to continue working together.
You do not need perfectly formed answers or a polished description of your topic.
Let’s start a conversation.
You do not need to know which programme or way of working is right for you. We will figure it out together.
